Tweets to Share

For those of you who are unfamiliar with micro-blogging sites such as Twitter, which limit you to 120 characters for each post. I wanted to share with you a series of entries I recently submitted, in the hope that it may bring inspiration to you.  They are short and concise, in so I encourage you to share them with others in email signatures and tag lines.

  • In every life’s story passed down to us through the scriptures, resides within them the reflection of that which is spiritual in Christ.
  • Scripture portrays the gospel at work in the lives of those who came before and a guide revealing how He too works in us.
  • It’s impossible for us to understand scripture without knowing our place in His story which is ever unfolding, the mystery of Christ in us.
  • We who are in Christ have been set free of the chains that once held us; yet apart from faith we are powerless to remove them.
  • There are interlopers in the land now ours in Christ, yet apart from knowing our place in Him, we struggle in fear and yield to their hand.
  • The Lord is good and I’m thankful for all that He is doing in my life; with each passing day He is revealing more of Himself in all things.

Set Free in Christ

In Christ we have been set free from the powers of this world which once enslaved us. Yet in many ways we are unwilling to let go of those things which once unknowingly held us in bondage because we are deceived by our flesh, whose heart is set against God. We remember the days in Egypt and wish to return to the comforts of that world which our flesh enjoyed, yet we forget so easily how it held us captive and took from us all that we had. For all our toil and the promise of life, we received only deception in return. It held all the appearance of goodness, but underneath contained only the promise of death.

Yet we have living in us the promise of his Spirit who beckons us to live by faith in Christ; the one who lead captives free to the hope of eternal life. I pray that we would be willing to place our hope and faith in Christ, knowing that he is leading us to a place far and away better than what we once sought for ourselves in the depravity of our flesh. Knowing that anything he asks of us, he does so in order to replace it with that which is perfect.

In Him we can experience the things of this world without being in bondage to them, and therefore live in that freedom and walk in perfect peace. This world is merely a footstool, a place where our feet resides for this moment. Our place is in Christ and our home is his Kingdom. May we see the things of the world as they truly are; mere tools to which we have been entrusted to use and be used by Him in accordance to His will and purpose in us. May we grow in faith as we experience the victory found only in Him who has overcome all, who is Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.

Only One Hope...

Though my walk with the Lord has not been long, with each passing day I am convinced that there is only one thing which must be preach and that is the gospel of our Lord. There is no problem which cannot be healed by way of the gospel, and it is only through the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ through which we can be set free. Do not be misled to trusting in yourself, but trust in His word through which we have life and peace. It matters not where you come from or what you might have done, for if you are in Christ you have been made clean in Him. You have passed from death to life so now live in Him and no longer for yourself, but as onto the Lord. So that God may use you where you are; to share His grace and peace which has been given to you, to a world which is ripe for harvest.

He will place His desire upon your heart and will lead you into the works He has prepared for you. Therefore let us be obedient to His calling wherever He may lead, whether it be in our home or on the other side of the world, that we may be used for His purpose and bring glory to the Father through the work of Christ in us. Do not be disappointed in your situation, but rather be thankful that your hope and peace are secure in Christ, and that you are exactly where God would have you be for His purpose in grace. Since our time is so short and our days pass with haste; let us not wait one day, but even in this very hour turn from our ways and follow Him.

Hannah's Faith Made Her Well...

I'm currently in a study of the life of David and I was touched by the Lord as to the life of Hannah, the mother of Samuel. She struggled in her circumstances and could never find peace until she placed her hearts desire in the hands of the Lord by faith.

Hannah was a God fearing women who was troubled by what she felt was a curse upon her from the Lord. The Lord made her and had a wondrous plan for her, yet she did not see her weakness as the working of the Lord, but focused on her inability to do what was the very desire of her heart. Years passed by and she wallowed in what she perceived was her failure. Month after month and year after year passed till she finally put her faith in the Lord to do what she could not...

In her world, she knew only of God, and that one day He would accomplish all that He had promised.. God has, and He has done so through His grace and truth... what He accomplished in Christ..

Peninnah was placing her sufficiency in the fruit of her womb, which in reality was not by her, but a gift of God entrusted to her. Instead of honoring God and giving thanks to Him, she used that which was given to her as a stumbling block and a rock of offense which lead her to ridiculed Hannah for the special love which Elkahan showed to her. Hannah found God's grace and truth through her weakness and implores us to boast not in what we can do, but what God had done in her and what He will do in us. Bringing light into darkness and life from that which is dead.

Hannah is like us all...

  • Called to a purpose, which we are unable to fulfill...

  • Striving to that purpose we seek our hope in the things of this world, yet never finding peace in it...

  • Living unfulfilled lives striving to find fulfillment in that which is fading away instead of that which is eternal...

  • Ridiculed by the world who in darkness cling to that which is perishing...

  • When all hope in ourselves fail, we either give into darkness or fall to our knees and place our hope in God alone...

  • Despising the darkness and embracing the peace which comes in the light of God's grace...

  • Placing our life in His hands and seeking Him as our eternal source of life...

  • Blessed by His grace and truth, he takes that which is dead and restores it to life...

  • That we may live lives in accordance to His will, and rest in the One to whom our hope resides...

Life is too short to run around in circles, for Hannah simply believed God and it was counted to her as righteousness. It was not the child being born that made her believe, for before the child was yet born she walked away with the peace that comes by faith in God.

We are very curious people who dream of things eternal, yet have such finite lives here on earth. Our hearts delight with joy in the ways of the Lord, yet we constantly fail and fall short of those things which the spirit testifies to our heart and we agree as being good. Why is it that we cannot do it ourselves, yet dream of the joy of walking in His ways?

Hannah tells us that it was so that all would come to God by faith; not in what is seen, but what is unseen. For these are the very pillars which all creation has been set upon in Christ. Not placing our hopes in this creation or anything we could do, but by faith in Him to do what is right; in us and through us. God has such wondrous plans for those who would yet trust Him. Those who would not be blinded by faith in the flesh which is fading away, but in that which is yet unseen.

We long to be the men whom God has called us to be, to be the husbands and sons He has called us to be, and that we know in our hearts how we should be. Hannah was called to bear a child and it was the very desire of her heart, but apart from God who brings life from death she could not find fulfillment. Neither can we become all that God would have us to be, till we let go of our pride and lean on Him alone to transform and lead us through all the works He has prepared for us.

Paul too would echo this same application which the Spirit had later taught to him; never to boast in anything of ourselves but that in our weaknesses, that we might display in our walk all that God has done in us through Christ. May the Spirit enlighten our hearts, as to the way of the Lord...

-----------

By Hannah's faith the Lord displayed to her how gracious and wonderful is His provision, so much so that in her barrenness He brought forth life from her dead womb. In her joy she gave thanks to the Lord and left for us a hymn of praise, imploring us not to seek our hope in that which we can do, but to trust the Lord in all things that we might too find our source of life in Him by faith in Him and the One who was to come.

Introducing Solid Food

Ever increasingly across the pulpits of American and even within the most respected of churches, I hear leaders proclaiming that victory is found in believing in Christ.  Yet scarcely is there ever mentioned how we obtain that victory in Him.  We are implored to run; yet not shown that it is not we who are running, but merely the vehicles in whom Christ within us runs. We are told to shed that which hinders us, but not that it is in Christ and our life now hidden in Him, in whom we may cast off that which would hinder us. There is a time for milk and there is a time for solid food and though we should never despise the milk; we are also called to encourage those around us to seek the reality of the work of Christ as it relates to our spiritual walk in Him. If we are to grow we must partake the spiritual food that is provided to us as we commune with Christ in the outpouring of His life made manifest in us.

It is a burden upon my heart to which I have been called in the proclamation of the gospel, never to deviate from that gospel made alive in me, by the power of His spirit in me. That we might now and always rest in what He has accomplished, walking in His will for us, and standing firm even when the world collapses around us; in the hope that is found only in Christ. That together in Him we might know the abundance of life and power of His spirit living in us. Living not for ourselves, but for Him; that His grace and truth may be made known in the hearts of all who would hear as to the testimony of what God has accomplished for us in Him. This same testimony is professed in the great cloud of witnesses, who beseech us to walk as they did in obedience to the will of God for them, by faith in the One who came that all may have life.

Everything pertaining to life eternal has been supplied to us in the finished work of Christ and can be known by us, if we would strive to let Him live in us and lay hold of His claim upon us as to our very source of life. That we may truly be fitting lamp-stands from which shines forth His light. The lamp-stand does not create the light, but is the vessel in which the light can be displayed. Likewise we shine as He shines within us; may we now and forever more let Him live in us and be the Light, which brings life to this world.
